About Dr. Laura Peña Pantano

Laura Peña Pantano has over twenty years of higher education experience. Working at a variety of institutions across the United States, Laura is well-versed in the challenges that campuses face in creating healthy and productive work environments.

Her interest in civility began when she experienced firsthand the negative impact incivility had on staff morale, productivity and personal job satisfaction. Interested in this, Laura focused her dissertation research specifically on the impact of incivility in higher education settings and found that although it is more commonly found in corporate America, incivility is prominent in higher education.

Unlike other civility consultants who focus on corporate organizations, Laura is able to use her experience working in higher education to make the topic of civility relatable and relevant to higher education and K-12 administrators, faculty, staff and students.

Laura has served as Vice President for Student Affairs at three institutions: Assumption University, NHTI – Concord’s Community College, and St. Catharine’s College. She has also served as Associate Dean of Students at Bucknell University, Dean of Students at New England College and Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement & Success at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

Laura has a Doctorate in Education Leadership Policy Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio, as well as her Masters in Science from Western Illinois University and Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.
